Rather than cancelling the order, you fulfil what you can immediately and create a backorder for the remaining quantity, to be shipped when stock is replenished.<\/p>\n<h2>Handling Backorders<\/h2>\n<p>When creating a shipment in Zoho Inventory and the available quantity is insufficient, the system prompts you to either partially fulfil and create a backorder or wait until full stock is available. Backorders remain as open sales orders until fulfilled.<\/p>\n<h2>Customer Communication<\/h2>\n<p>Proactively communicate backorder status and expected fulfilment dates to customers. Unmanaged backorders damage customer relationships.
