Without a standardised scale, one manager&#8217;s &#8216;Good&#8217; might be another&#8217;s &#8216;Average&#8217;, making cross-organisation performance comparison impossible. Zoho People lets HR define a single rating scale that all appraisals use, ensuring consistent meaning across departments and managers.<\/p>\n<h2>Common rating scale formats<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Numeric:<\/strong> 1 to 5, or 1 to 10. Simple and easy to aggregate into averages.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Label-based:<\/strong> Exceptional, Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, Below Expectations, Unsatisfactory. More descriptive but harder to aggregate.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Percentage:<\/strong> 0% to 100% achievement against target.
