Without carry forward, all unused leave would lapse at year-end, which can create year-end leave rush behaviour as employees try to use all their days before losing them.<\/p>\n<h2>Carry Forward rules<\/h2>\n<p>Zoho People lets you configure carry forward at the Leave Type level:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Maximum carry forward limit:<\/strong> Cap on how many days can be rolled over (e.g., maximum 10 days of earned leave can be carried forward).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Days above the limit:<\/strong> What happens to unused days above the carry-forward cap \u2014 they can be lapsed (lost) or encashed (paid out).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leave types with no carry forward:<\/strong> Casual leave and sick leave are typically not carried forward; only earned leave usually qualifies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Year-end processing<\/h2>\n<p>At the end of the leave year, Zoho People runs the carry-forward process for all eligible employees, transferring up to the configured maximum balance into the next year&#8217;s opening balance automatically.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carry Forward in Zoho People is the automatic transfer of unused leave balance from one leave year to the next, subject to configured limits.
