What is a Shift in Zoho People?<\/h2>\n

A Shift is a named working schedule configuration. For example, a Day Shift might be 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break, totalling 8 working hours. A Night Shift might be 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Each shift definition includes the expected start and end times, the total required hours, and any grace period for late arrivals.<\/p>\n

Shift assignment<\/h2>\n

Shifts are assigned to employees either permanently (for fixed-schedule workers) or through a Shift Schedule for rotating or variable schedules. An employee’s attendance is always evaluated against the shift they are assigned on that particular day.<\/p>\n

Shift deviations<\/h2>\n

Zoho People flags deviations from the assigned shift: late arrivals, early departures, insufficient hours worked. These flags can trigger approval workflows, notify managers, or automatically mark the day as a half-day or LOP based on the configured policy.<\/p>\n
