In Zoho People, designations are managed as a master list so that naming is consistent across the organisation \u2014 every senior engineer carries exactly the same designation string rather than ad-hoc variations.<\/p>\n<h2>Designations vs job bands<\/h2>\n<p>A designation is the public-facing job title. Organisations may also use job bands or grades (L4, L5, Senior, Principal) internally to manage compensation and career progression. Both can be tracked in Zoho People: designation for the official title and a custom field for the internal band or grade.<\/p>\n<h2>Designation in reporting and org chart<\/h2>\n<p>The designation appears on the employee&#8217;s org chart node and on their public profile visible to colleagues.
